Mel Recchia

We successfully launched our PDO Thread Lift training at the beginning of the year and the demand from both our previous delegates and models has been phenomenal. From our experience the thread lift offers excellent lifting effects for those who are just starting to see the effects of ageing such as skin laxity in the mid and lower face. As well as being a fantastic stand-alone treatment it can also be used in conjunction with other popular non-surgical treatments such as Botox and Dermal Fillers.

What are PDO Threads?

PDO stands for polydioxanone which is a colourless crystal form, biodegradable synthetic polymer. When PDO threads are inserted into skin layers, it operates as a mechanical external stimulus to the cell causing collagen to be produced within the skin.

The thread lift technique uses two different types of threads to achieve results:

  1. The first is a smaller thread which can be used all around the body. On our aesthetic training course we use it on the lower part of the face to enhance jawline definition. Threads are inserted one by one into the areas needing attention, then pulled out leaving the thread in place.
  2. The other thread is longer in length with a small hook. These threads are inserted using a cannula on the top of the cheek bone. On average, five threads are inserted through one single entry point and this is repeated on both sides of the face. When all threads are in place they are pulled upwards to lift the mid and lower face and then trimmed to hide visible signs of exterior threads.

The combination of these threads can produce significant results for your client although using just one type is also possible dependent on your the expectations of your client and desired results.

What are the benefits of offering this treatment in your clinic?

  • Short treatment time of 30-45 minutes
  • Patients can see some results straight away with a relatively short recovery time
  • Cost effective with a high profit margin
  • Provides you with a competitive edge over local clinics
  • New marketing opportunity to bring in a different clientele
  • Can be used alongside Botox & Dermal Filler treatments
  • Celebrity endorsed treatment and highly praised among patients

Going under the knife can be scary to say the least. Signing up to have something permanently changed on our bodies is something we need to be 100% sure about. For those who aren’t quite sure whether plastic surgery is the right option but want to achieve results mirroring what they could on the operating table, there are a whole host of non-surgical treatments available.

Surgical procedures are normally identified by patients under going a general anesthetic and due to the invasive nature of these procedures recovery time can be considerable. Of course, surgical procedures will always have their place and not all treatments can be replaced by a non-surgical alternative. However with advances in technology we are starting to see a shift from these traditional surgical approaches to less invasive non-surgical techniques.

It is amazing what can be done with the power of a needle and a correctly trained aesthetic practitioner. In this article we take a look at 3 of the most common alternatives to traditional facial surgery:

  • Non-Surgical Facelift using Dermal Fillers
  • Non-Surgical Nose Reshaping
  • PDO Facial Thread Lifting

Non-Surgical Facelift

The Non-Surgical Facelift works by targeting your mid and lower face. With the use of dermal fillers, this quick treatment, coined the lunchtime facelift re-introduces volume into the cheek and jowl area. This in turn minimises the signs of ageing. This clever technique restores volume and lifts the face, giving excellent results.

This is a perfect treatment if you are wanting to restore that youthful glow perhaps before an event or to simply feel more confident within yourself. This treatment uses the Juvederm Vycross range of dermal fillers meaning results can last up to 18 months.

The best thing about the non-surgical facelift at Cosmetic Courses is that we can create a bespoke treatment plan specifically designed around your expectations. We can vary the treatment from a very subtle lift to a more obvious uplifting effect dependent on your desires.

Cosmetic Courses Cost: £145 per syringe

Surgical Facelift Cost (for comparison): £9,000

Treatment Time: 1 hour

Downtime: Patients can go back to normal day to day activities but are advised to not partake in any strenuous activity.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

We have seen an incredible increase in the demand for the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty, also known as the Non-Surgical Nose Job.

With a combination of dermal fillers and botulinum toxin, the nose can be contoured and reshaped to soften irregularities. For example if you have either a bump on the bridge of your nose, a flattened or high tip of the nose or even asymmetry then you may be suitable for this treatment.

Although a fantastic and affordable alternative to surgical rhinoplasty, some patients may find that the result they are after can only be achieved through the surgical route, therefore a consultation is normally necessary prior to treatment.

Cosmetic Courses Cost: £200

Surgical Rhinoplasty Cost: £4,500-£7000

Treatment Time: 15 minutes

Downtime: Patients can return back to work the same day, but are advised to stay clear of any strenuous activities.

PDO Thread Lifts

One of the newest treatments on offer here at Cosmetic Courses is the phenomenal PDO facial thread lifting. The results of this amazing treatment mimic a surgical facelift by using dissolvable threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). These threads are inserted into each side of the face with minimal incisions and then pulled upwards to achieve a tighter and more youthful appearance.

The PDO creates a reaction within the body which awakens our collagen, resulting in tighter and firmer skin.

Cosmetic Courses Cost: £500

Surgical Facelift Cost: £9,000

Treatment Time: 30-60 minutes

Downtime: 2-4 weeks, patients can go back to normal day to day life. There may be slight bruising and care should be taken when handling the face.
