You may have seen it splashed over the tabloids, uploaded onto social media or you may not even be aware of its existence. ‘What is dermaroller?’ We hear you ask. Read on to find out more about dermaroller treatment with Cosmetic Courses.

Dermaroller, also known as microneedling is the treatment to the stars and the beauty trend that everyone needs to know about. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks (the list goes on).

And the best bit? It’s a completely natural process which wakes up your collagen – the component of your skin that helps you to look healthy and fresh.

What is Dermaroller? Your Questions Answered

The dermaroller device

Dermaroller Device - Cosmetic Courses A Dermaroller is a small hand-held device with a handle that leads up to a wheel covered in tiny needles of no longer than 1.5mm.

It’s appearance may look a little frightening but it’s these very needles that lead to the amazing results it can achieve for your skin.

How does dermaroller work?

It’s wheel is rolled over the skin causing pin pricks, tricking your skin into thinking its experienced an injury. The body is then alerted and sends collagen to the surface to repair the ‘damage’.

This influx of collagen begins to fix certain problems in that area;

  • Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Minimising acne scarring
  • Refreshing the skin

What to expect from a dermaroller treatment?

Overall the treatment takes around an hour to perform. This includes the time allocated prior to your appointment where anaesthetic cream is applied to the face to numb the area which will greatly reduce any pain.

The dermaroller is then rolled over the skin causing slight pain and possible bleeding, neither to be concerned about. The quick and fast motions are over in no time and as the saying goes “no pain, no gain”.

On leaving your appointment your face will be slightly red but this will reduce relatively quickly and by the following day a majority of the redness should have disappeared.

When will I see results?

Results vary from patient to patient, some begin to notice the difference straight away, others a few weeks later. The average time is 2-6 weeks before you will start to see the maximum effects of the treatment. For specific skin concerns you may need a course of 3 treatments to see maximum results but this can be discussed with your aesthetic practitioner on the day of treatment.

Is it safe?

The procedure is completely natural with its sole purpose to wake up the collagen in your skin. The device itself is sterilized and no foreign substances are introduced into your skin during the procedure, making it one of the safest non-surgical treatments available.

Are dermaroller results permanent?

The procedure is repairing your skin, so results are effectively permanent. As skin ages we recommend to have further sessions of the treatment enabling your skin to be at its best.

What do we mean by ‘models’?

For  the past 15 years we have trained over 4500 medical professionals in a range of advanced skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing treatments. Through this, we require models who are happy to have these skin treatments in a training environment and the major benefit is you receive your treatments at greatly discounted prices. So if you don’t want to break your bank balance but still want a first class treatment, then becoming a model with Cosmetic Courses is a fantastic alternative.

One of our loyal models, Rebecca explains the major benefits of becoming a Cosmetic Courses model:

Like a large number of our models, Rebecca was recommended to us by a close friend. She also saw the financial benefits as a huge motivation to come to Cosmetic Courses over another skin clinic. She describes her treatments as excellent with very natural results. Our aim at Cosmetic Courses is to produce subtle enhancements that slowly rejuvenate your skin over time rather than completely change how you look. As supermodel Christie Brinkley says, “You still should look like you!”

Even though Rebecca has only been attending as a model for 6 months she has already had a couple of treatments with us, including:

  • Dermaroller (Skin Needling)
  • Upper Face Botox

“I was made to feel very comfortable, very professional. I’d definitely recommend it” – Rebecca
